Every year you experience a new energetic theme based on your personal numerology
Traditionally the new year begins in January but when it comes to your Personal Year Cycle, it really begins with the Spring Equinox. Currently, you are most likely experiencing some of last year’s energy mixed with this year’s.
At the start of every astrological new year, you will enter a fresh cycle of energy that sets the tone for what the year has in store for you. This is called your Personal Year Cycle (and if you don’t know what how to calculate, I will explain in a bit).
And depending on what your theme is this year, you may find that this is a great time for moving to a new city, meeting the love of your life, conceiving children, or starting a business, etc.
Your Personal Year Cycle in numerology dictates the theme(s) and energy that you will experience for the year. It is neither good nor bad, as the energy of each number has a spectrum filled with opportunities, growth and sometimes challenges.
How to get your Personal Year Cycle for 2025
In order to calculate your Personal Year Cycle for 2025, you will need to add up your birthday (month + day only) and add that to the year 2025, then reduce to a single digit.
Example:
My birthday is December 25th.
So 12+25+2025=2062
Then I want to reduce 2062 down to a single digit:
2+0+6+2=10
1+0=1
I am entering a Personal Year Cycle of 1 for 2025.
*You will find the meaning of each personal year cycle below (I also recommend looking at the year prior’s year cycle, as you will still be experiencing some of this energy from last year until the astrological new year in Spring):
Personal Year 1
Since Personal Year Cycles go from 1 through 9, this is the beginning of your next 9 year cycle. Meaning, the intentions and energy that you step into 2025 with and the action you take this year of 1 will set the tone for the next 9 years.
The number 1 often represents new beginnings. It is one of the few years within your 9 year cycle period in which you may find yourself moving, starting a new job, etc. It’s also a year about winning. If you’re not typically competitive individual, this year you may find yourself striving to be number one and the being the best that you can be at whatever you pursue.
And since 1 is a singular vibration, this is a year that focusing on your independence is highlighted, especially if you are someone who relies on others to support you.
This is a year to really focus on your individuality and honing in on what makes you truly unique. It’s the year to take action on your biggest dreams, to prioritize yourself. It’s a year to step into leadership if you’ve been in the background. Year 1 is all about main character energy.
Advice from a Numerologist: Take this year to REINVENT yourself. If there are qualities that you have been wanting to embody, this is the year to do it. If you’ve found yourself hesitating to take action on something you’ve always wanted to do, THIS IS THE YEAR that the energy favors those types of ambitions.
Personal Year 2
2 rules pairs (one on one connections) and psychic energy. It’s also the ruler of balance. When you enter a Personal Year 2, you may find yourself feeling much more sensitive than usual, due to the heightened intuition and emotions that the 2 evokes. This can be a time of prophetic dreams and highly intuitive hunches.
Relationships of all kinds (platonic and romantic) are highlighted during the Personal Year 2. If you are single, this is a great time to put yourself out there, especially if you’ve been calling in partnership for a while. If committed, this is when your relationship may require extra attention and you should prioritize deepening the connection. This also may be a time where you find that relationships and connections that once fulfilled you no longer align with who you are evolving into during this new 9 year cycle (since last year was your Personal Year of 1).
Aside from romantic connections, this is also a favorable year for joint business ventures as well.
Advice from a Numerologist: Do not second guess your gut/intuition during this cycle. It will not lead you astray. When you have a hunch about something, trust that the 2 is enhancing your intuitive abilities. Also, keep a dream journal nearby and record your dreams since this year they may be more telling.
Personal Year 3
3 is the number associated with connecting with your inner child. And because of this, it is why 3 rules creativity. It is the element of self-expression through various art forms (music, drawing/painting) and anything else that allows you to fully SELF EXPRESS your most creative facets (writing, stand-up comedy, acting). During the Personal Year of 3, you may feel called to share your art or to be seen by the world-even if you are typically an introvert. This is the year to share your gifts, spirit and child-like energy with others.
3 moves beyond the 1:1 connections that the Personal Year of 2 fostered and pushes you to be a little more social. This is a great year to attend group outings, networking events and to expand your circle of connections. The Personal Year of 3 does want you to focus on the lighter side of life and to see the humor and fun in majority of situations you experience this year. If you do not allow yourself to take this approach or to tap into your creative side this year, things may feel a little manic for you. You will want to take advantage of the energy of this Personal Year, since next year will call for a bit more responsibility.
Advice from a Numerologist: For business entrepreneurs and those with an online presence, THIS IS THE YEAR TO BE SEEN. Push yourself outside of your comfort zone and share your authentic self, you will not disappointed by the results.
And no matter what you do for a living (entrepreneur or not), find some sort of creative outlet this year. Take an art class, start writing, etc.- it does not matter, just find some way to tap into your inner child during this cycle.
Personal Year 4
Last year was about a little more socializing, creativity and tapping into your self-expressive energy (if not, you may need to prioritize that in the beginning of this year before your Personal Year of 4 really sets in)- as the 4 brings more responsibility into your life than last year, so it’s really time to get serious about the security of your future during this cycle.
4 is known as the architect and builder. 4 is the basis of all solid foundations, literally and figuratively. Think about how a table needs 4 legs to balance, it is what gives the table its stability. Which is why this year is about looking at what foundations feel solid in your life at this time and to analyze the ones that give you a false sense of security (such as a job or relationship that isn’t serving you anymore). The 4 highlights what makes you feel safe and secure and if it’s something you’re holding onto that isn’t necessarily empowering you or creating positive growth throughout the rest of your 9 year cycle, then those aspects of your life may feel shaky during the Personal Cycle of 4.
4 is also the seeker of knowledge, which is why this year may call for you to sharpen up skills or to gain new knowledge-which again, is all about creating security for your future. It’s not uncommon to consider going back to school or to even switch careers during this time, as 4 is one of three business related numbers in numerology.
For some, the Personal Year of 4 can feel stressful and bogged down by responsibility of securing a more stable future, but this is year to really get organized and to work a little harder on your goals, as the next year will changes things up in a big way.
Advice from a Numerologist: Be okay with not reaching big goals this year, as this year is focused on laying down the groundwork. And in order for anything to stand the test of time, it needs to have a solid foundation to support it. This is the year to build brick by brick, so whatever you construct in terms of knowledge and work will support your goals over the next 5 years of the rest of your 9 year cycle (and even longer).
Personal Year 5
Be ready for this year to FLY BY. 5 is an odd number and can sometimes feel imbalanced, which is why it’s important to NOT try and control as much as last year. Last year was more of a serious year energetically, which means that the Personal 5 Year Cycle is here to give you a break. And by break, I literally mean a vacation. If you’ve been neglecting to travel, this is the year to do it. If you don’t feel like you are in a place financially to escape, change up your surroundings locally as much as you can (go to different coffee shops, drive alternate routes, visit other towns nearby). This is the year to break the cycle of routine and sameness.
The 5 is known to rule CHANGE. And this change may come in many forms. For some, it’s a change of residence, relationships—it can literally be anything. But the thing is, sometimes the change is forced if you allowed yourself to stay somewhere past its expiration date (as the Personal Cycle of 4 last year should’ve highlighted false securities and situations that no longer serve you). So if you are someone who does not welcome change, this year can shake up your world.
The upside to the Personal Year of 5 is that it can bring in a lot of FUN. The 5 wants you to focus on healthy escapes and to find ways to feel free (which is why travel is encouraged). Similar to the Personal Cycle of 3 that encouraged networking, this year is focused on expanding your social circle and getting out more. Even if you do not like to socialize, you may feel pulled to, as the Personal Year of 5 can make you feel restless if you do not get out.
Advice from a Numerologist: This is year to LET GO and GO WITH THE FLOW. Trust that you can not control everything and that this year wants you to allow more ease. The 5 can be a magnet for drama, especially if you have a 5 in your personal chart—-so this is the year to not take on others’ issues or allow yourself to get sucked into their drama.
Personal Year 6
6 is the number of HARMONY. It is the year about healing and the home. Whether you have a physical ailment or emotional wounds that need healing, this a great year to focus on prioritizing self-care. 6 is a very feminine and nurturing vibration, so if you’re someone who lives day to day in your masculine energy, you may feel a shift of moving more into your feminine energy this year. And because 6 rules all things domestic, this will bring focus into the home and family. If you feel like your home does not feel like the sanctuary that you would like it to be, this is the year to redecorate and do a deep cleaning (physically and energetically). Maybe buy new bedding or rearrange using Fengshui. You may feel yourself called to stay home more during this cycle and to indulge in being cozy.
Relationships are also highlighted here, especially romantic ones. If you’re attached, this is a great time to get engaged or married. If you’re single, this could be the year to meet someone for the long run. This year is really about strengthening existing relationships but to also grow closer and call in secure commitments.
Advice from a Numerologist: You may also find yourself taking the lead a bit more in certain areas of your life (work, relationships, etc.). 6 is the problem solver, if you find yourself wanting to fix everything around you this year, be very mindful that you need to prioritize your own healing first in this cycle, or you can feel burnt out. You may find that people who need extra help may reach out this year and it’s okay to offer nurturing guidance, just do not take one anyone else’s problems as a project in this cycle. Remember, the 6 wants you to lean into your feminine energy.
Personal Year 7
7 is the number that is most synonymous with spiritual growth. The Personal Year of 7 is all about discovering your purpose. It’s not uncommon during this cycle to question what your reason for being is during this life time in the cycle of 7. It is a year that forces you to really analyze what feels in alignment with your soul. And since your Personal Year Cycle next year highlights career, it makes sense that this year preceding that uncovers your path.
With that said, this year can feel confusing and even lonely since 7 is a very introspective vibration. It’s not a year to overly socialize or to take action. It’s a year to focus on your spirituality and to evolve that area of your life.
For those who tend to lean on others for support, you may find yourself a little more isolated compared to years past. And that is because the 7 wants you to go to Source/God and yourself for support. It wants you to pay attention to YOUR intuition, as 7 is a very intuitive number. The Personal Year of 7 can bring on waves of depression if you are out of touch with your spiritual side, so that is when turning to nature is recommended. 7 also is one of the numbers that rules nature, in addition to spiritual growth-so if you can go on hikes, spend time by the ocean or lakes, it should help alleviate feelings of sadness and frustration.
Advice from a Numerologist: Be mindful to not get into a cycle of cynicism. The energy of 7 can bring with it lots of doubt and sometimes anger when a clear path or answers to the big questions don’t appear. That is the shadow side of the Personal Cycle of 7. So remember to use nature as your therapy and to really connect with your spiritual team and prioritize your spiritual practices. Alcohol and drugs should also be avoided during this cycle. If you can go sober during this cycle, I would recommend doing so.
Personal Year 8
Most people associate the number 8 with money & abundance (which it can absolutely does assist in that realm) but the 8 energy rules not only money but the human body.
The Personal cycle of 8 will definitely highlight your career because it is so closely associated with money but because the 8 is about taking certain steps to attain a particular outcome/goal, it is very action oriented.
This is the year to get really laser focused on your finances and come up with a plan to get credit cards paid down, invest and save.
If you have been hoping for a promotion, at work, this is the year to go for it. If you have been considering a career change, it is not unusual to change occupations entirely during this Personal Year Cycle of 8. If you have an 8 as one of your core numbers in your chart, this is a really favorable cycle to start your own business.
As mentioned earlier, 8 also rules the human body. Which means that this a year to take your health seriously. If you’ve developed poor eating habits or haven’t been moving your body, this is the year to form healthy habits. If you ignore your health this year, it will get the best of you and get in the way of attaining other goals. Especially if you feel called to focus most of your energy into work. If the body isn’t well maintained and stressed, you cannot focus your energy into your career.
The number 8 has two circles, which represents second chances and cycling back around. What this means is that if you feel like it’s too late or that you’re behind on anything, you’re getting another chance this year. The Personal Cycle of 8 can also bring up old lessons as well, with its pattern of circling back. So until a pattern is broken, it may appear over and over again in the Personal Cycle of 8.
Advice from a Numerologist: Take time to really look at what patterns and habits need to be broken this year. Take your health seriously and don’t be afraid to take chances with a new career or starting your business, as this year is the most aligned energetically for that.
Personal Year 9
This is the final year of this 9 year cycle for you! It’s all about the culmination and wisdom gained. Much like The Hermit in tarot, which is the 9th major arcana, this is about looking within as well. It’s about trusting yourself because you have gained so much wisdom from the past 9 years.
Since 9 is the last number in numerology (with the exception of Master Numbers, which are different), this is about endings as well. The Personal Cycle of 9 really highlights what needs to be let go of and what lose ends needs to be tied up. If there are habits or reoccurring thoughts, this is the year to release them. If there are certain relationships that you’ve outgrown, this will become evident to you. Anything that you’ve held on to that you do not want to take with you into a fresh new 9 year cycle next year, you will need to part ways with. And sometimes in this cycle, it’s not uncommon for the Universe to move things out of the way for you. You may find that your lease for your apartment is unable to be renewed. A friend may move away that isn’t supposed to be in your life anymore. Endings of all kinds may come in during this cycle.
The energy of 9 is also about responsibility. You may find that you have a lot on your plate and may feel stretched thin during this cycle, so it’s important to have boundaries and to make sure that you’re not taking on too much during this year.
The Personal Cycle of 9 can also highlight old wounds with the immediate family as well. So this would be a great year to focus on either letting those feelings go completely or it can mean a possible reconciling or deepening your connection with family members.
If you have been wanting to conceive, this is a favorable year to try, as 9 is a family number.
Advice from a Numerologist: Be okay with letting go this year. If someone or certain circumstances exit from your life or come to an end, trust that it’s for your highest good. Keep in mind that you are moving into a brand new 9 year cycle starting next year and your next year is about reinvention of self. And in order to fully embody that, you will need to part ways with old stories, beliefs, habits and sometimes people and places. The Cycle of 1 next year is not one that you want to carry old baggage into.
YES! Love this as a personal 3 year as I’m reconnecting with my joy and passion in music and dance after years of working as a spiritual life coach and teacher 🤘🏽🥰 Literally came to the conclusion that I need to PLAY this year 😂 earlier this month! Thank you for these insights 🙏🏽💕
